Medication Packaging Requirements & Special Consideration

Medication Packaging Requirements

Pennsylvania law requires that only pharmacists or manufacturers dispense medications into labeled containers.

We can only accept medications in the following manner:

  • Original pharmacy bottles
  • Commercial packaging
  • Pharmacy-prepared blister packs or pill packs – Required for children taking multiple medications together

We suggest using Horsham Pharmacy – they are local and will coordinate delivery with Camp Onas’ nursing staff.

Unfortunately we cannot accept:

  • Weekly pill organizers
  • Zip-top bags
  • Loose or unlabeled pills
  • Parent-filled containers
  • Herbal mixtures without commercial labeling
  • Compounded products without pharmacy labeling

If packaging does not meet these standards, the medication must stay home.
