Year-Round Staff

The day-to-day oversight of Camp Onas is in the capable hands of Holly and Matt Hecht, who have directed Camp Onas for nearly ten years.

In addition to directing camp onas, Holly is the Executive Director of the Friends Camp Association of PA (FCA), which owns and operates Camp Onas. She works closely with the board of directors to ensure the organization is advancing its mission, evaluating its work, and planning for a bright future. Prior to returning to Onas, Holly led a 10-year career in organizational development, working with large, national nonprofit organizations to enhance donor communications, analyze performance, and improve results.

Hollys hobbies and interests include practicing yoga, working with clay, and building things she dreams up. She is a graduate of Earlham College (BA), George School, and Newtown Friends School, and is a member of Wrightstown Friends Meeting.

In addition to directing Camp Onas, Matt is the Operations Director for the Friends Camp Association of PA. His responsibilities include overseeing camps physical property, its recordkeeping and bookkeeping, and managing vendor relations. Matt supervises the Camp Onas Health Center and serves on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Camp Health (formerly Association of Camp Nurses).

When camp is not in session, Matt enjoys playing ping pong, reading books, and making art in a variety of media. Matt is a graduate of Wesleyan university (BS, Economics), and University of Pennsylvania (BSN).

Lisa Daniel

Administrative Manager

Lisa has managed our Camp Office since 2002. She oversees camper registration and all of our bookkeeping. In addition to her expert office management, Lisa fills another important role at Camp Onas, supervising the care and safety of Camp’s animals. When Lisa is not at Camp, she can usually be found in her own horse barn, or at area equestrian events.

Dex Gilden

Camp Director

Dex returned to Camp Onas in 2021 to be a part of the Director team and support all of the programming at Onas, from our summer sessions to our rental and school groups during the year. A graduate of Haverford College and Westtown School, along with being a counselor for seven years and a camper for three at Onas, Dex loves the Quaker values of community, integrity, and stewardship that are a guiding part of everything we do here at Camp. When he’s not busing onboarding summer staff or managing our email inbox, Dex enjoys playing board games with friends, taking pictures of landscapes, and going on adventures around Camp with his wife (and seasonal staff member) Eliza, who lives on-site with him.

Katie Rodgers

Communications Manager

Katie is glad to be back at Camp. She is well acquainted with Onas, a former camper and counselor. Katie supports Camp’s fundraising, communication, and engagement efforts, and helps our community stay in touch. In her off time, Katie enjoys documentary film and hiking.

Isabelle Helmich

Advancement and Engagement Director

Isabelle spent 12 summers at Camp Onas as a camper and staff. She is thrilled to return as the Advancement and Engagement Director. Her work focuses on advancing Camp Onas and its community through meaningful fundraising and constituent engagement opportunities. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, and spending quality time with loved ones.
