Notes about Orientation and Training

  • Please submit all your required documentation vial Google Classrooms by June 1. Some things can’t be rushed, so please start early.
  • We strongly encourage in-person attendance for staff orientation, but will make allowances this summer. If you have to miss any of the mandatory sessions, or are missing more than half of orientation, you will be required to do some or all of the virtual orientation. No one will be permitted to work at Camp Onas without completing orientation.
  • Wilderness first aid, lifeguarding, and high ropes (and possibly canoe skills) training are offered to interested staff. You must sign up ahead of time, and we may not be able to fit everyone who is interested into the classes — we will know this once we know who would like to take them.
  • Camp Onas pays for the training you receive, so the first summer you receive a certification, you will not receive additional pay for the certification. If you return in later summers, we will pay you for the certification in those summers.  If you carry a certification you received elsewhere (Camp Onas did not pay for), we will pay you for it the first summer. Recertifications completed through Camp Onas are different, and all staff will be paid in the summer they are recertified.
  • Please be aware that if you received your lifeguard certification at Onas in 2019, it will need to be renewed this year.
