Camper Aid Fund

Camp Onas offers financial aid to campers and families with our Camper Aid Program.

About the Camper Aid Fund
Each year, many Onas families apply for and receive financial aid from the Camper Aid Fund. The Camper Aid Fund is supported primarily through donations, and its sole purpose is to provide the tuition assistance that families need in order to make their child’s Camp Onas experience possible.

How much aid is available?
Award amounts can range from $25 to almost the entire cost of tuition. Awards are determined by the overall requests from all applicants, in relation to the funds we have available, and the specific needs of each family that applies.
Camp Onas does not provide full camperships for campers, meaning every family must contribute something toward their camper’s tuition. However, so far we have been successful in providing financial aid to every family that applies, and enough of it for their camper(s) to attend.

Eligibility
Generally, Camper Aid is available to campers registered for one session, with the exception of “graduates,” who can receive Camper Aid for two sessions.
Camp Onas requires additional documentation for aid requests above a certain dollar amount (this threshold can vary from year-to-year), and all families are invited (but not required) to include a note that may help us consider their application.
Otherwise, Camp Onas does not have specific eligibility criteria for camper aid recipients, and strives to meet every family’s needs to the best of our ability.

How to Apply
The application for financial aid is part of the registration process. Families can access and submit the Camper Aid Application during or after completing registration.
The Camper Aid Application will also provide more information on the process, timeline, and forms of acceptable documentation.

Camper Aid Partnerships
Camp Onas partners with two outside organizations that support our Camper Aid Program: ESS Cares and SCOPE. Both of these programs have specific criteria, and Camp Onas does our best to match campers to available opportunities. You are welcome to reach out to us to learn more about these programs.

SCOPE seeks to provide summer camp opportunities to children, regardless of socio-economic background. Children who receive SCOPE camperships attend Camp Onas free of cost to their family. Camp Onas and SCOPE have been partnered for well over a decade. In 2024, 14 campers attended Camp Onas with scholarships from SCOPE.

The ESS Cares summer camp scholarship program is specifically designed to support BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) youth ages 13 to 17 by covering $1,000 in tuition, per eligible camper. In 2024, five Onas campers attended Camp with the support of ESS Cares.

Thank you to SCOPE and ESS for everything you do to help children attend summer camp, especially Camp Onas!

Donate to the Camper Aid Fund
Donations keep our Camper Aid Program thriving and sustainable for the campers of 2025 and all the summer that follow. Your gift to the Camper Aid Fund will be used exclusively to provide tuition assistance, helping Camp Onas include more campers, and enriching the possibilities for friendship and memories for all campers.

For the 2024 summer, we awarded a record $70,500 in Financial Aid that helped 76 campers attend Camp Onas! Thank you to all the camper families, Quaker meetings, alumni and friends, and camp partners who have made this possible!
